Joseph Dominic Cozza, 80, of Orange, Connecticut, died peacefully on the morning of January 30, 2026, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Lilian Cook Cozza; his children, Damaris (Rick) Cozza, Jared (Noa) Cozza, and Jessie (Paul) Cozza; and his grandchildren, Wyatt, Jaime, Toni, Carlo, and Roma.
Joe was born in New Haven, Connecticut, on September 10, 1945, and was lovingly raised by his parents, Mary Rose Puiia Cozza and Vincenzo Dominic Cozza. He fondly recalled his childhood—trips to Savin Rock, learning photography from his Uncle Fred, playing down the street with his cousins Cliff, Chris, and Maria Onofrio, and watching his grandmother make fresh pasta every Sunday.
He graduated from New Haven University with a degree in mechanical engineering and spent the majority of his career working at John Brown/Kvaerner where he was the Vice President of Engineering. Above all, Joe was devoted to his family. A true Renaissance man, he was an artist and craftsman, and a lover of Italian art and culture. He had an unquenchable thirst for life and loved nothing more than discovering a good find at an auction or flea market.
Friends and family may pay their respects at the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., New Haven, CT on Monday February 2nd from 5 - 7 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in Christ Presbyterian Church, 135 Whitney Ave., New Haven. Burial will follow in Orange Center Cemetery.
