David Matthews, 64 of 177 Ellsworth Ave., New Haven passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 17, 2013 at his home. Born in New Haven on Oct. 1, 1948, he was the son of the late Otis Matthews and Mary Santos Sullivan. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and lived in California for more than 20 years before returning to Connecticut. He was employed by St. Vincent dePaul’s Parish in East Haven and, more recently, he worked for Chuck and Eddie’s Used Auto Parts. He is survived by two daughters, Akilah Matthews of Upper Marlboro, MD and Lorraine Anderson of New Haven; his sister, Kathy Matthews Barbour (Charles) of New Haven; step brothers, William (Janice)and Harold (Susan) Farnham and step sister, Paula Euell; two grandchildren; several nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Martin dePorres Church, 136 Dixwell Ave., New Haven Saturday morning at 10:00. Calling hour prior to the Mass from 9 to 10 am.
